Rules of reception

  • Visitors and permitted meeting frequencies：
    • Permitted frequency of meeting for various categories of inmates:：
      1. Inmates in Category 4 or without a category: inmates are permitted to meet their relatives once a week.
      2. Inmates in Category 3: once or twice a week.
      3. Inmates in Category 2: once every 3 days.
      4. Inmates of Category 1: no restriction.
      ※Inmates in Categories 3, 2, 1 are permitted to meet non-relatives in so far as these meetings are morally harmless.
    • Visitors permitted：
      1. Nearest relatives: The so-called nearest relatives include spouse, lineal blood relatives, collateral blood relatives within the third degree and relatives by marriage within the second degree.
      2. Dependant: As stipulated in article 1123 of the Civil Law of the Republic of China, all members of a family, except for the house-holder, are dependants. Anyone who is not a relative to the family but purposively lives with the family permanently can also be counted as a dependant.
      3. Certificates of relatives or dependants: Anyone who applies for a meeting with the inmate as a relative or a dependant shall produce documents that can prove his/her relationship with the inmate, or identifies himself/herself with the investigation documents of our penitentiary.
      4. Access denied: Visitors will be denied for access to meet an inmate if such meetings are considered to be harmful to the prison’s discipline or to the inmate’s interest.
  • Meeting time：
    • Meeting time: 8:00-12:00, 13:00-16:00. Meeting is not available on holidays.
    • After the implementation of the 2 days-off per week, the first Sunday of a month will be available for meeting.
    • When national holidays, holidays last longer than 3 successive days, the arrangement for meeting will be published specifically.
  • Relevant provisions on foods, beverages and necessities to be brought to inmates：
    • Foods, beverages and necessities to be brought to inmates must undergo inspection, those that are harmful to inmates health or the prison's discipline, or with contrabands in them will not be allowed into the prison.
    • Nothing is allowed to be brought to those who violate the regulations of the prison or are deprived of the visitation right.
    • To bring in foods, beverages and necessities, after they have registered at the reception, visitors must fill in a "list of objects to be brought in," which includes detailed information items such as visitor's name, his/her relationship to the inmate, address, names of objects to be brought in, whether these objects are self-made or purchased (if they are purchased, please specify where they are purchased), etc.
