Traveling Miles to Spread the Gospel: A Heartwarming Encounter at Hsinchu Prison

—Short-term Mission Team from Christian Assembly of San Jose Brings Love to Hsinchu Prison—

On November 28, 2025, Hsinchu Prison hosted a collective reformative activity featuring the choir from the Christian Assembly of San Jose Short-term Mission Team. The Warden of Hsinchu Prison, Tseng Wen-Chin, delivered an opening speech expressing his profound gratitude to Pastor Huang Ming-chen and the choir members for flying thousands of miles from the United States to deliver messages of love and hope to the inmates.

The event commenced with Warden Tseng personally leading the mission team to visit the prison’s Raden (Mother-of-Pearl Inlay) workshop. He introduced the intricate crafting process and invited the guests to participate in a hands-on experience. Upon arriving at the main auditorium, the prison’s Ukulele class performed hymns to warmly welcome the distinguished guests.

The program continued with powerful testimonies from three members of the Christian Assembly of San Jose:

  • Overcoming Addiction: A brother shared how he was once physically and mentally bound by the thorns of drug abuse but found the strength to break free through his faith in the Lord.

  • Healing from Grief: A sister recounted her journey of losing a loved one; through the abundant love of God found within the church, she walked out of the "valley of the shadow of death" and overcame her profound loneliness.

  • Divine Connection: Another member testified to the miraculous grace and serendipity of coming to know God.

Between these testimonies, the mission team performed several hymns, providing the inmates with a sense of inner strength and warmth. To conclude, Elder Shih-cheng encouraged the inmates to practice humility. He explained that humility means emptying one's heart of negativity to make room for new inspirations and blessings. He remarked beautifully that "one should not fear the cracks in life, for that is how the light gets in," urging the inmates to break out of their shells and approach God with a humble heart to regain the radiance of life.

The event concluded successfully at 10:30 AM in a warm and moving atmosphere.
