Welcoming the Year of the Horse: When Will the Wayward Find Their Way Home?
—Hsinchu Prison Hosts "Face-to-Face Lunar New Year Visitation" for Inmates—
The Hsinchu Prison of the Agency of Corrections, Ministry of Justice, held the "Face-to-Face Lunar New Year Visitation" for inmates on February 5, 2026. Participation was enthusiastic. To provide a spacious and comfortable environment, the event was divided into morning and afternoon sessions, allowing inmates to celebrate the Lunar New Year early with their families and enjoy the warmth of a reunion while serving their sentences.
Family is the original cradle of love, where affection flows naturally and remains unshaken by time or circumstance. Families traveled from afar, demonstrating their love through direct and heartfelt presence, allowing inmates to profoundly feel the value and true meaning of life. Through positive communication, inmates had the opportunity to repair family relationships. Simultaneously, families could witness the progress and positive changes the inmates have made. This mutual support and warmth serve as an invisible yet powerful force, providing the momentum needed for the journey of reintegration—the greatest achievement of this event.
Warden Tseng Wen-Chin of Hsinchu Prison visited the venue in person to greet the families and wish them a safe and happy New Year. He also encouraged the inmates to truly repent, find their way back from past mistakes, and strive for an early return to society and their families. A total of 487 inmates and 747 family members participated in the event, which concluded successfully at 4:00 PM.
